Hiyashinta Klise was formally trained in fiscal administration specializing in taxation. Her love and interests are however for the outdoors and the arts and cultures of Indonesia. Over several visits to her father’s homeland, the islands of Tanimbar in the Moluccas, she became concerned when she realized that the women there had stopped weaving and the younger generation had little interest or motivation to weave.
In 2014, she founded the Lamerenan Foundation to promote and revitalize weaving in Tanimbar, working specifically with young women like herself who are interested in learning the art of weaving. She also founded CV Lamerenan Tenun Indonesia, a company that sells the weavings made by the weavers of the Lamerenan Foundation.
